Happy Birthday Campbell!

Today Campbell Ross came into this world weighing 7lbs, 6oz. and 21 1/2 inches long.

We got to the hospital at 6:30. They hooked me up to the IV and broke my water. I had my epidural around 9:30. They say you usually dilate about 1 cm an hour, so we were expecting to be there a while. Aunt Nickole and Matt kept me company by watching movies and reading magazines. Around lunch time I convinced Matt and Nickole to go get something to eat and I would take a little nap, after all I was only around 4 cm. About 15 minutes after they left I started getting a little pain in my hip. I called the nurse and she said the epidural may need to be adjusted, but she would check me just in case. Well, lo and behold, I was 10 cm and ready to push. I called Matt and he and Nickole ran all the way back, McDonalds in their teeth and all. I pushed for an hour and Cam was barely coming down. We discovered the cord was wrapped around this neck and every time I pushed he would come down and then be pulled back up (hitting my tail bone). After another hour and a half he finally made his way into the world, but he was not breathing. They swept him away and had to do a little work on him, but finally he came around. It was so scary for all of us. We are so thankful to have our healthy baby boy.

Here he comes, ready or not!

After going the the doctor and realizing I was 3 1/2 centimeters dilated, without a single contraction the whole pregnancy, we decided to be induced. Here is the email Matt sent to family and friends.

We'll send out another email with pictures as soon as we can, so keep us in your prayers and wish us luck!
